BOYS & GIRLS CROSS-COUNTRY
2024 RMS CROSS COUNTRY MEET SCHEDULE

RMS CROSS COUNTRY OVERVIEW

Practices are Monday–Friday from 3:20-4:50 pm unless we have a meet (see meet schedule). During practice the runners will participate in distance runs (distance will vary depending on level of runner), speed work, light strength training, and running games. Practices are over at 4:50 pm and students should have arranged for a ride home or get on the activity bus (school provided transportation) at 5:00 pm. If an athlete cannot make it to practice, please let me know (nate.ilse@district196.org) with an email from a parent. If an athlete has an injury they should not show up to practice.  Instead, send a note or an email stating the nature of the injury and how long they’ll need to recover.  When kids show up to practice it means they are healthy and ready to participate in all of our workouts.

MEETS
We have about one meet every week (see schedule).  Meets generally start at 4:00 and are usually done by 5:30 with awards ceremonies (some meets) shortly after the final race.  Please note that these are approximate times and depend on the number and abilities of students running. We generally return to school around 6:00. Parents will need to pick up their child at RMS at that time.  It is expected that whenever possible, team members stay for the whole meet to cheer on their teammates as they race.  It means a lot to the runners when their teammates are on the course motivating them! Parents may take their child home from the meet, but must check out with a coach. The bus will leave school at 3:20 pm from the pool doors. Students should be dressed and on the bus at that time. Uniforms will be given out before our first meet. Parents are encouraged to come and watch their child run in the meets!  At most meets, parents will be able to see the runners at several different locations on the course. Distances for races range from 1 mile to 1 ½ miles.
